Keep the conversation going.
Help with English–Spanish live translation, voice setup, typing, and offline use.
Start a conversation
- While online, open DuoVoice and prepare its languages and voices.
- Allow microphone and speech access when iOS asks.
- Tap Start conversation and speak English or Spanish. Pause briefly for the spoken translation.
- The next person can speak the other language without changing buttons.
Type a message
Tap Type, select the language you’re writing in, enter your message, and tap Send. DuoVoice starts translating as soon as you send it. Typed and spoken turns appear together.
Typed input uses the language you select; spoken conversation detects English or Spanish automatically.
Voices and offline use
Choose and preview English and Spanish voices in Settings. Each language has its own speaking pace.
Prepare all required language and voice files while online. Once installed, speech recognition, translation, and speech generation run on your iPhone. Missing or deleted files need another download.
When listening stops
Keep DuoVoice open and the phone unlocked during a live conversation. Opening Settings, switching apps, or locking the phone pauses listening. A phone call or another audio app can also prevent microphone access.
For clearer speech, reduce TV/background voices, avoid speaking over each other, and try Voice Isolation. Speaker echo reduction helps, but cannot eliminate every stray word.
